Hey friends, Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
This year is starting off bright, bold, and full of color! Pantone released their color of the year and It’s Ultra Violet. I have to admit, it’s one of my favorite colors.
Today I’m sharing 5 simple decor ideas you can incorporate to your living space using the color of the year.
If you’re looking to refresh your decor for the new year, try these simple steps. These simple decor ideas allow you to update without having to fully commit to that color and they’re more cost-effective than say buying a “purple” sofa, or painting your entire wall “purple”. This way, if you want to change-up your decor again, you can do so easily.
I hope you found these tips helpful and I’d love to see how you change-up your decor!

Hello! This past Friday was the 1st official day of Fall, yay! Bring on the cooler weather and pumpkin everythaang!!
I like to decorate for Fall and then around the 1st of October, I re-arrange/put away some of my decor and transition it into Halloween. Today I thought I’d share with you how I decorated my kitchen & nook area for Fall.
Kitchen Hutch (this would also make a great centerpiece on your table)
I found these little harvest corn cobs from the dollar tree!
I love having this chalkboard in the kitchen. I decorate it just about every holiday!
I found a big bag of these acorns at a “market days” event and I always incorporate them somewhere during Fall.
That’s it my friends! I hope you enjoyed the tour. I’ve linked similar items for you down below if you’d like to re-create any of these looks.
Hello friends! It’s been so long since my last post and I have to tell ya, I’m missing ya! I’ve been babysitting, working on a few home projects, and enjoying my summer…I hope you all are enjoying yours as well!
Today I wanted to share my entry table styling and lamp mini makeover. I’ve never talked about how I put together this area so I thought I’d show you.
This is the table I have in our entry way and there is a large rectangular mirror hanging above. I painted and weathered the mirror myself from an old dresser we no longer wanted.
I love thrifting and found this cute little sign and wreath holder one day at a Goodwill store. About a year ago, I found this gorgeous cracked glass vase at Hobby Lobby that catches the sun light just right! It’s always been in my living room under a table collecting dust so I decided to move it here. I used tree branches I found bundled up on the side of the road that someone was throwing away for a filler. The Acai wood bowl was a gift basket from a previous employer that i saved over the years and just added some pretty wood chip decorative balls to fill it up and give it some height.
My lamp “before” and “after”. This turquoise lamp was about as bright as the vase and I felt like they were competing with each other. For me, it was too much turquoise. I was about to throw it out and I thought I’d try painting it first. I gave it a grey wash and then went back over it with a bit of white to give it more of a stone look. I just love how it turned out and I’m glad I didn’t get rid of it! It’s much more neutral now.
One thing I like to incorporate into my decor are things that have a story behind them or some sort of sentimental value to them.
This basket here is filled with a few of my spouses treasures…the first 2 bucks he ever shot as a teen and a rattlesnake he crossed paths with last year!
It’s fun having family & friends over and sharing stories about how we came about these things.
Here atop this vintage suitcase sits a pair of horseshoes I saved from a cousins quincenera that my baby girl got to be a part of.
Here’s the full view of the table and decor.
Hope you enjoyed checking out this little space in our home. As always, thanks for stopping by!
*the lamp I have is a Ross store find. I wasn’t able to find anything like it. I did find this lamp here that you could paint grey to get the same mood. It’s one of those things that if you happen to see something similar at a discount store, grab it!
Hi guys! Boy is summer in full effect here…toddler, teenagers, babysitting, & junior all-star baseball practice/tournaments. Whew! Just a few weeks in and I’m exhausted lol!
I was out and about shopping this past weekend at one of my favorite discount stores. I spotted this lake house sign in the clearance area and would you believe it was marked down to .65 cents? I kid you not, I couldn’t believe it either. There was nothing wrong with it so I brought it home with me and figured I’d find somewhere for it.
I planned on a lake house theme for my sons room, but now he no longer wants that…teens, go figure!
So I have this sign and because the price was so low, they cannot take it back. It got me thinking how else I could use it. I have been wanting a farmhouse sign to hang in my kitchen for sometime and I thought why don’t I just use this and paint over it…so I did!
I used some basic white craft paint and coated the board about 3 times until everything was covered.
After it was dry I used black acrylic craft paint and letter stencils I had on hand for the wording.
I let that dry for about an hour and added a black wash to it for the effect of dirty, weathered wood. (check out how I did it here)
I just love how it turned out and I think it looks great here in my kitchen! Let me know what you guys think!
Spring is here! After the cold and all the winter white, I’m anxious to get my Spring/Easter decor up. I love all the pastel colors that come with Easter and it just makes my home so cheery and bright.
I made this fun carrot “wreath” for my front door last year. Let me tell ya, it was a lot of work but so worth it! It’s so whimsical and such a statement piece.
This large grapevine bunny has to be one of my fave thrift store decor finds!
This “HOP” sign is a great little inexpensive DIY I put together with scrapbook paper and Dollar Tree frames.
A simple cake stand and some raffia make a cute little nest for this bunny!
I love mixing high/low-end to decorate my home. I put together this vignette and you would never guess some of the items are from Dollar General and 99 cent only store! Don’t be afraid to check out some of these stores, you can find really cute items for next to nothing.
Thanks for checking out my Easter/Spring décor. Stay tuned, I’ll be sharing more Easter themed projects and recipes.
Spring is right around the corner and I am sharing this cute birdcage décor DIY. It’s so simple and really easy. All you need is a cage of your choice (use one that has smaller spacing between the bars so your potpourri doesn’t fall thru), and some potpourri vase filler. That’s it!
To assemble: open your cage, fill with the potpourri of your choice, (if you like, you can mix in some decorative balls/pod fillers too) and close the lid. Now you can display your birdcage wherever you like!
I’ve linked some cute cages I found and some potpourri and ball/pod fillers for you too!
*I used a medium-sized cage, 1 bag of ball/pod fillers, and 1 bag of potpourri (keep in mind the larger the cage, the more filler you will need)
Have fun putting yours together and send me a pic if you decide to make one. I’d love to see how you style yours! You can find me on Instagram and Pinterest @thedimestoregypsy.
